London blackout - update
"This is an unprecedented situation" - London Underground Spokesman. This power failure has struck during the evening rush hour. All power to the underground "third rail" is off over the whole network.
"Between 100,000 and 150,000 people trapped in trains underground." - Mayor Ken Livingstone. If there is no resumption of power soon, they are going to have to consider walking people from the trains along the tracks to stations. There is no indication of any foul play at this stage, just a failure of the National Grid.

Spooky
Interesting that this comes hot on the heels of a massive power failure in North America. Must be the effects of Mars being so close to Earth these days. Well, not the power failure itself that is, but the tendency for strange things to occur. Look back over your ownlife events during the past two weeks and note the strange events! (Or not)

interesting
Interesting that it occurred on the same day that Blair's story about why we have bombed and occupied Iraq, thereby initiating greater instability, was being examined for revisions at the Hutton Inquiry.

the long march
I arrived back at Paddington with my daughter just in time to have no chance of getting transport home to north London. We walked from Paddington to Gloucester Place hoping to get a northbound bus and ended up having to walk to Swiss Cottage where we stopped off for a bite at the very acceptable China Garden. The crowds walking north were as if a football match had just ended and the stadium had emptied out.
We got a 268 then from the O2 centre. The bus was empty since it sneakily heads south first before doubling back north.
