It is cultural
What the writer of the above comment has failed to understand is that this extraordinary generosity is cultural among primitive tribes. This openness and readiness to share is the apotheosis of the nobility of the 'sauvage' (if I may be permitted to indulge in technical language). Approaching strangers in the 'sophisticated' (scuse again) West with such an offer though is likely to see this poor Mr Osagie tricked out of all of his money.
Among my many other commitments and charity work I am studying for a diploma in Anthropology though I am not sure why. They haven't told me a thing I don't already know. But still, it will be nice to have the diploma.

I think it's a trick
I think this is a trick letter. Like, that's a lot of money. If the police want to catch this man there's a clue where he might be right at the start of his letter. He says 'Compliments of the Season' so if the police check where it's Christmas right now and then check the computers there this guy should be quite easy to get. Or arrest everyone with a computer and say that no-one can go home until the one who did it owns up.

In my experience
My gut feeling is that the name will be false but, let's delve deeper. A man called August...mmm...now, what if you were a woman called June who wanted to pose as a man...Bingo! August is the first name that would logically pop into your head. So the investigation moves on...we are now looking for a woman called June sowehere where it is Christmas at the moment.
Our June must be feeling the hot breath of the hounds of Justice on her heels by now.

Easy - he's not
I shouldn't really be telling you these detection methods but if it helps keep North West London crime free then I feel it's worth it.
Let's look at the facts.
a) What is the first thing you notice about the name Wahab Daniel
b) That it is patently an anagram. And what's more it is a red herring since it is so obviously an anagram that the unravelled anagram will not be that of the perpetrator but of the person the culprit wants us to believe is the perpetrator. The perpetrator thinks he is being clever doing this but has in fact sown the seeds of his downfall. In this case we will simply unravel the anagram and go to that person and ask who wants him in prison enough to pul a stunt like this.
