Councillor abandons sinking Tories, scurries to Liberals
Carol Shaw, a local conservative councillor for thirteen years, has defected to the Liberal Democrats and is now backing Sarah Teather's campaign in the forthcoming Brent East by-election. In a letter to all voters in the constituency, she says "... under Iain Duncan Smith's weak leadership the Conservatives have become more divided and extreme... the Liberal Democrats are the only party that can beat Labour here in Brent.... Labour seems to have drifted to the right ..."

I think Ed is trying to say it's too boring, and I think he's right.

Tories
So she's defected because of Smith's weak leadership? Would have stayed if he wasn't leader?

Drifted
Labour seems to have drifted to the right
is a very generous statement in light of the fact that they have saddled up the fastest horses available to man and galloped rightwards as fast as their horses will carry them. Any government whose first piece of social legislation is to withdraw the Lone parent premium whilst simultaneously allowing the Millennium "technology of the 1950s" Dome project to bleed the country dry isn't drifting to the right, it is hurtling.

Carol Shaw
She may be confused about where she belongs politically but she is a damn good councillor. When was the last time you heard anything from that other shower? Who is the councillor for Willesden? I dunno. maybe it is Carol. She's the only one I have heard of who actually does anything. When was the last time anyone heard from the councillor for Kilburn for example?
